Expectations of a Brother
Alpha Gamma Rho is recognized by our peers, as well as the Office of Greek Life and the College of Agricultural of Food and Natural Resources as a top fraternity on the Mizzou Campus. In order to maintain our high standards of excellence, Theta Chapter has extablished certain expectations for our members.
New Greek Education- This program is required by the Office of Greek Life for all persons new to the Greek Community. There will be approximentally 7 sessions in the fall.
Membership Development Meetings- During first semester new members will attend weekly meetings to learn about the fraternity and the University of Missouri. Every member is required to pass the National Membership Test.
CAFNR Fall Roundup- New members will be required to attend CAFNR Fall Roundup during the first week of classes. It is an opportunity to meet CAFNR faculty and sign upfor CAFNR organizations.
Every member is encouraged to be involved in a minimum of two (2) campus activities/clubs.
CAFNR Week- All members participate in CAFNR Week activities which include a speaker nighte, skit night, and Barnwarming. In addition you will want to attend other events during the week and you should plan to participate in a minimum of two. Examples of events include the BBQ Contest, Road Rally, Stick Horse Rodeo, Mud Volleyball, etc...
Philanthropies, including AGR Blood Drive- Our philanthropy benefits the Columbia Shelter for Women and Children. In addition we sponsor an American Red Cross Blood Drive in January ad participate in three sorority philanthropies. Be expected to be asked to participate in these events.
Founder's Day- Anually, our alumni come back to the university and fraternity to share is common bonds, brotherhood memories and many other important aspects of fraternity life. All members are required to attend Founder's Day, usually the end of January or beginning of February.
House Duties- Every Brother is required to sign-up for 1 week of kitchen crew, 2 weeks of bathroom crew, 1 sober cell per semester and a weekly house cleanup.
Homecoming- Alpha Gamma Rho will be paried with a sorority for Homecoming. Every member has a part in one or more of the competitions which nclude house decorations, talent, float, decorate the district, service, the blood drive and other events.
Greek Week- Alpha Gamma Rho will be paried with a sorority for Greek Week. Every member has a part in one or more of the competitions which include talent, service, Greek Games, and the blood drive.
RAMS (Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis)- Quickly becoming a campus wide philanthropic event, Alpha Gamma Rho is pushing to become more involved in these types of events. All members attend the talent competition on the final night and many members participate/volunteer in service events to raise awareness for multiple sclerosis.
Study Hall- All new members attand study hall Sunday through Thursday for 2 hours. We feel this helps young brothers adapt to the acedimic environment on campus. In addition, all members who fall below the 2.4 GPA required for membership will attend study hall for the next semester.
AGR Classic Heifer and Steer Show- A philanthropy event to benefit young show exhibitors up to the age of 20 has quickly become a very well recognized steer and heifer show across the nation. Therefore, each member will be required to donate a minimum of two hours of their time to Classic.
